Enjoy Lunch at the Historic Forest Restaurant “Matsumotoro”
The restaurant Matsumotoro is located in the heart of Hibiya Park.
The historic western-style restaurant first opened in 1903 alongside Hibiya Park. The park’s fountain is located just in front of the restaurant, and it’s also close to the Imperial Palace, so it’s a great place to visit while walking through the area.
This time, I had lunch at the Western Grill & Garden located on the building’s 1st floor.
The building is designed to be able to host weddings and other parties, and the 3rd floor features an authentic French restaurant.
There are also seats available on the open terrace, so it seems like a nice place to stop by on a warm day.
The menu features typical Japanese takes on western dishes, like Hayashi rice (hashed beef rice), hamburger steaks, and katsu curry.
I didn’t hesitate to order their winter-only borsch this time.
The borsch was made with domestic Japanese beef and plenty of large pieces of vegetables.
It had great textures, and it warmed my body right up.
You can choose between a side of bread or rice. I chose bread this time.
When I have soup-based dishes, I love to sop up the remaining broth with bread.
It was absolutely delicious, and the borsch warmed my body right up after eating it. I’m sure that whatever you order here will be great!
