This article will introduce day 3 of my winter trip to Nikko. I started the day with breakfast at the historic “Nikko Kanaya Hotel,” then visited Kosugi Hoan Museum of Art, Matsuyashiki, and more.
A large-scale Hina Matsuri has been held annually in Katsuura City of Chiba Prefecture since 2001. A total of around 30,000 Hina dolls donated from around the country decorate areas across the city, so you can enjoy the dolls even just by walking around town.
Every year, the large numbers of people that visit this area are surprised at how many flowers are blooming as early as January! The flowers look like they could be a solid carpet of yellow! Visiting Kamogawa in the early spring to see it covered in rape flowers, and even enjoying picking them, is great fun!
Why not try visiting winter locations in Tokyo’s neighboring Saitama Prefecture’s Chichibu? This area is 3 hours away from Ikebukuro by bus or the Seibu Line. I’ve come to visit the back-country areas of Chichibu, Saitama Prefecture. First off, I stopped to appreciate the artful ice formations!
