Beppu Christmas Hanabi Fantasia

“Beppu’s Christmas Hanabi Fantasia,” the winter celebration in Beppu, will return for 2017! In addition to amazing fireworks timed with music, the festival features local elementary students in the “Christmas Songs Sing-Along with Children” (around 1000 participants total) event. The touching Christmas songs fill the area with warmth, spreading a fantastical atmosphere through the area.

Kokonoe “Dream” Great Suspension Bridge

The “Dream” Great Suspension Bridge is a pedestrian suspension bridge opened in 2006. It boasts a length of 390 meters, a height of 173 meters, and a width of 1.5 meters.
It is the highest-up pedestrian bridge in Japan!

The Hells of Beppu are hot spring areas in Beppu City, Oita Prefecture.
Spewing gas, thermal mud, and boiling water for over 1000 years, and referred to in the “Bungo Fudoki” as an unapproachable abhorred land, this area has come to be known by people as “hell.” Even today, the local hot springs are still referred to as “hells.”
