Nagasaki – Kyushu's No.1 Fireworks Contest

The Kyushu Fireworks Festival is western Japan’s largest fireworks display, during which over 22,000 fireworks will be launched!
The festival is held in Japan’s largest theme park, “Huis Ten Bosch,” located in Nagasaki Prefecture. It is a large-scale event for which top-level fireworks specialists gather. Additionally, there are plenty of other things to see during the festival, such as the “Hanabi World Cup” which decides which fireworks specialist is the world’s best, the “Odama 100 Concurrent Fireworks Launch,” and the finale, “Special Starmines”!

Osaka-Kishiwada Danjiri Matsuri

The Kishiwada Danjiri Matsuri was founded around 300 years ago from the people’s wishes to have “a bountiful grain harvest.” Many years have passed since its inception, and today this festival also serves to strengthen the bonds between the local people. During this festival, people carry danjiri (decorative portable shrines) around town while letting out powerful cries. Another fun thing to look out for are the plenty of gourmet food stalls set up during the festival.

Nagano Prefecture – Zenkoku Shinsaku Hanabi Kyogi-Taikai

Nagano Prefecture’s Lake Suwa is famous for being a great location to launch fireworks. That very lake is where firework creators from across Japan compete in displays using fireworks crafted with innovative ideas and technologies. The fireworks, with the craftsmen’s passions built into them, are launched along with messages and music, and the sight is truly a moving work of art. Around 18000 fireworks are planned to be set off over a period of about an hour and a half.
