“Ginza Bairin” is a famous tonkatsu restaurant that was founded in 1927. One of the reasons for its popularity is that its founder, a former pharmacist, developed the original chuno sauce (the sauce used on pork katsu).
I’ve been a big fan of this restaurant for many years now. This time, I’ll be introducing my recommended dishes that I enjoyed on this particular visit.
In Japanese cuisine, the fried breaded pork cutlet called Tonkatsu is famous. Now a beef version of this dish, known as Gyukatsu, has been gaining attention, and a lot of eateries specializing in beef cutlets have appeared recently.
In Osaka's Dojima Chikagai (an underground shopping arcade), there's Kyoto Katsugyu, a restaurant that's always full of customers. I went there to have lunch!
Despite being in the Minami shopping district of Osaka, Hozenji Yokocho is a quiet, atmospheric area with cobbled stone streets.
Yokocho is an 80-meter-long and 3-meter-wide street that’s full of well-known gourmet restaurants.
Today I visited “Katsudon,” a restaurant that, as its name suggests, specializes in katsudon (pork cutlet bowls).
“Yuraku” is a famous katsudon restaurant in one of Fukuoka’s residential areas.
Katsudon is a dish in which fried pork cutlet is put on top of a bowl of rice along with onions and eggs cooked down in a special broth.
