This article will introduce day 3 of my winter trip to Nikko. I started the day with breakfast at the historic “Nikko Kanaya Hotel,” then visited Kosugi Hoan Museum of Art, Matsuyashiki, and more.
Why not try visiting winter locations in Tokyo’s neighboring Saitama Prefecture’s Chichibu? This area is 3 hours away from Ikebukuro by bus or the Seibu Line. I’ve come to visit the back-country areas of Chichibu, Saitama Prefecture. First off, I stopped to appreciate the artful ice formations!

You can reach Shin-Aomori Station from Tokyo Station in about 3 hours by taking the “Hayabusa” Tohoku Shinkansen. Switch to the standard train line for about 40 minutes, and you will reach Aomori Prefecture’s Hirosaki. Here I will report on that area in the wintertime.
Hiroshima Prefecture is home to the stunning tourist spot and World Heritage Site, Miyajima. It is easily accessible with frequent ferry service available for pedestrians as well as cars.

It is only a 1-hour train ride from Tokyo’s Ueno Station on the Takasaki Line (JR East) to Saitama Prefecture’s Gyoda, where ancient lotuses are in full bloom! Kanazawa is the main city of Ishikawa prefecture. Ishikawa is located in the centre of Japan’s main island. This region is called Hokuriku. In 2015 Japan Rail started to operate the Hokuriku Shinkansen(bullet train) line. Now we can access Kanazawa station from Tokyo in only 2.5 hours!
This time I journeyed through Kanazawa’s popular tourist spots, the Higashi tea house district and the Kazuemachi tea house district.
